Sequence of renovation
To all the sifus who have renovation experience, what is the correct sequence for renovation if I want to do the below:
1. Electrical wiring (Fans, lights, air con, electrical points)
2. Plaster ceiling
3. Kitchen cabinet (include hood ducting hole)
4. Wardrobe
5. Painting
6. Door and window grills
Seems a dumb question but I need some advise
Thanks!

Re: Sequence of renovation
Bro,
So fast prepare for rennovation already. I think the wiring and plaster go together but will you go with an ID shop or just pick few you like. I have the same problem to figure out which to start first.

Re: Sequence of renovation
I think i'll follow sequence below:-
1. Iron grill
2. Electrical wiring
3. Plaster ceilling
4. Fans, aircon, lighting point installation
5. Kitchen cabinet (hood, sink & etc)
6. Paint
7. Wardrobe & etc furniture (if i still got budget:p)
Any comments? My first time owning house of my own, hope everything smooth:)

My experience lah....
Wiring
Aircond piping (without blower unit installation) and plumbing
Hole for your hob (if u r not using charcoal recycling system)
Plaster ceiling (most dusty job)
Paint
Grill (if u make grill first chances are the paint might got stuck on your grills)
Cabinets, hood, hob, aircond, lightings, fans, etc.
Furniture only in after all the dusty works are done.

your one look ok, but the aircond must come before paster celing work so you can conceal and hiding your piping if you want, possible, the paint can come before fans and lighting installation. otherwise, the paint will easy kena all your wall light etc.

i thought aircon piping already provided by developer? saw some holes on wall, not sure for aircon or what:)
still thinking should locate wet kitchen on yard area or just leave yard for washing machine only.
grill i plan to re-paint again, as a lot of welding sure cause a lot of paints to peel off.

plan to swipe off the poor paint works from developer, then re-paint again, with better surface foundation i bet even normal paint can last longer than any expensive paint lying on top of developer "cement paint" :p

Mayb one stop contractor a bit expensive, but it can save us a lot of time n energy.
V can find few contractors if v really hv time to monitor them.
If not v will headache when the contractors misunderstanding wif each other or they din coordinate well!
End up v need to pay extra to correct their mistake since nobody will take the responsible.
I learnt tis from my aunt's experince end of last year.
V still can save cost even v go thru one stop contractor like v provide them paint, downlight n other material.....
So far I found an one stop contractor wif reasonable price. Their quotation for me not too expensive compare to the price of few contractors.

Re: Sequence of renovation
tion wooi, thanks for the advice, certainly helps!
i don't have much time to check price and monitor, worse still my budget on tight ends:(
think i'll go with one stop contractor if price does not differ much, easier since whatever reno needs to go thru management. I'll go buy material then maybe cvan bring the cost down a bit. Mind to share the one stop contractor contact you mentioned?

Re: Sequence of renovation
I want to ask, will it affect a lot if I install the grills first? I spoke to contractor, they advise me to buy my own downlight, aircon, lights, fans and paint. They will do the wiring, installation and paintjob..
So I have no place to keep my stuff without grill. I plan to install all grills first upon defects complete by developer, then use the utility/store room to store all these barang.
Anybody can advise, besides the painting may kena the grill, any other things to consider?
Dilemma now as I also missed out a great promotion for Bosch washer yesterday at IPC. The front loader 7kg type just going for 1699 but they can only keep for 1 month...

hi ben, just did abit ard equine area last sat:-
kitchen cabinet - same length like showroom, only exclude units above fridge, melamine abs ard 3320, if change worktop to solid add another 2110
wall cut frame - that big hole between kitchen & dining room, use melamine also, put extra 1 feet extension on bottom to hold dishes, 635
5ft till top wardrobe in master room (next to bathroom), sliding door, antijump n etc, 1470
double sink - 300
plumbing works to fit sink - 180 (DIY la:p)
install hood, hob & sink - 100 (reasonable)
cheapest branded hood ard 300, hob ard 150-200. I was thinking should go for convention stove instead of hob and replace hood with induction fan, saving not significant but definately more practical & efficient. good hood price ard 1.5k
visited another shop, similiar kitchen cabinet, concrete 5.8k, granite 6270, solid 5820, woodtop 4020, claimed to have good reputation for years in lowyat forum, very nice sales girl:) their 5 feet wardrobe with mirror sliding doors cost almost 1750.
enough cabinet & wardrobe, shall go for piping, wiring & plaster ceiling quote this & next week, stay tuned:)
