Best quote I get for Panasonic (non-inverter) without installation:
1.5HP with ioniser RM1340
2HP standard unit RM1790
I going for Panasonic because price is at least 100+ cheaper than Mitsubishi per unit. Preferred Mitsubishi but need the money to cover some "unexpected costs" in my renovation plan.. T_T

Oh btw, it is not say that only install in MB and Living is no need hacking. As I know, the water pipe tat PC install is quite "high". If you doing plaster ceiling, lets say 8 inches down, your aircon unit will become even lower and therefore need to hack to move the water pipe lower too (the piping cannot be higher than aircon unit or something like tat). Else you may need water pump which is costly, make some noise and not long lasting. Or if you do nothing, aircon will leak water lo.....

Yes, GW is correct. But I choose water pump as my solution.

tionwooi wrote:tch, I hv made my decision take:
a.) 2 pcs Mitsubishi 1hp for both small rooms
b.) 1 pcs Mitsubishi 1.5hp for master bedroom
c.) 1 pcs Daikin 2hp for living room.

I decided take Daikin 2hp for living room coz it is RM140 cheaper than Misubishi 2hp.

But one thing u should bear in mind is they din do plaster after hacked the wall. But I dun think u got many hacking since u jus install in living n master bedroom. So should b no problem to u. My contractor oledi promised will help me plaster the wall FOC! So no issue to me too. Ha..... What a Face

i think my wall hack only on bathroom to bedroom walkway, master room door above, need to find the shortest route, patch back the hacked wall or not not an issue coz i decided to put plaster ceiling on bedroom walkway and master:)

so you and ben go for decided which contractor to go with? Very Happy

GW, the sk aircon vendor quote for mitsubishi 1.5hp ard RM1180 only, if your panasonic price include 10 feets piping + install then it's cheaper:)

standard install RM180, 10 feet piping ard RM120 (RM12/feet for 1.5hp).

Mitsubishi rm1180 should be the standard one without ioniser. I need ioniser one for master bedroom. Mitsubishi 1.5HP with ioniser should be rm1400+

Ioniser is neccessary for small closed up area like bedroom. Larger and open space area like living, not so big the effect. Of cos you can choose to install a standard aircon and buy a standalone ioniser. But some people say standalone one only purifies but does not ionise the air. This is what i learned from forums and also contractors.
Tats why i choose standard for living and ioniser for master bedroom.

GW, i'm newbie on this also:) i thought if i got budget then buy standalone ionizer, at least not tied with specific aircon and can rule out dependent on open the aircon only can get ionizer working (my wallet prob:p)

the last i saw in home deco, a brand call honeywell have some kind of ionizer, claim that it's quite good, but cost ard 2k plus, totally off my limit:(

since the piping and wiring cost a bomb, why don't we think of those portable standing type aircond? heard it is using normal 13amp plug, energy comsuption lower?

feihonglee, portable one quite ironic, cold air from front, hot air from rear:p

later need to check with management, my intermediate unit 2nd room got small yard to put master room compressor, just need hack wall let piping on, at least cut down 30 feets of piping, next time 2nd and 3rd room need aircon just pull from yard, still cheaper and shorter distance:)

Me also corner unit. No choice all pull to yard. Just wondering whether we need to change the power supply of our unit to "big electric" if we use 4 aircons (2HP + 1.5HP + 1HP + 1HP)? If all on together, will it affect to other units or cause power overload?
(I ask this cos I saw 4 compressors at my neighbour's house.....)

If all 4 airconds is turn on plus other electrical device not sure will the master fuse at meter room will "burn" or not?
I remember a house that have 2 unit aircond is ok, but if you want to put in more aircond maybe will need to apply with TNB?management? to ensure no overload issue... maybe those who plan to install more than 2 aircond need to do further checking and not only believe on the contractor... some of them want to have business and will say everything no problems...

i even meet some wiring contractor saying they have way to help you "save power" macam-macam pun ada... at the end we need to bear the consequences

One of the contractor that gave me quote (but i didnt take hehehe) even wanted to get from main for my water heater but when i told him already got point, he said ok. Turned out he was trying to persuade me make plaster ceiling for kitchen also.
Anyway best to check with management office about overload issue.
