Post by thedude Mon Jul 27, 2009 7:50 am

Did anybody have any updates on the grill designs and specs approved by AH?
Nobody can answer me when I went to AH last Saturday.

I remember they mention the grill can only put internally. they do not allow any change that can view from outside, is it true?

By "internally" you mean flushed with your wall?
I've seen a lot of flat and apartments with the grill boxed out / protruding. Then they put flower pots, shoes, mop and everything on it.
Damn ugly.. Evil or Very Mad

I was thinking if they dun allow for grill on the wet area, I'm gonna replace the wooden door (with a glass window) with a metal door.
But the problem is if I were to cover it completely, it will affect the ventilation and also natural light.
But if I dun cover it, then rain might come in.
Anyone have any idea on how to overcome this?

the lock i checked before runs on battery Razz and it can be recharged with 9v battery.. though we still risk having flat battery but it can still be opened with key Smile

If still can be opened by key then it defies the security purpose of using biometric right? Personally. I'm not considering going so high tech lah. But is planning to upgrade the locks or add some additional locks. OR maybe just make a "kau kau" front grill. lol! lol! lol!

I'm thinking of laminate it with some more classy surface so that it doesnt looks too cheap.. Smile possible? the same laminate we use to laminate our furniture when its old, or the laminate we use to laminate the kitchen kabinet? hehe.. anyone have any idea? or is there any better paint that can make it looks better? of cos im thinking of changing the opener/whatever it calls..

Actually tat is not true tat the grill totally invisible. It is a special stainless-steel structure on the grille n can b install on windows or balconies. It oso can connect to security alarm system. When the grilles are being tampered or damaged, it will alarm the security system and automatically call for help including the security company, the mobile phones of the owner and the nearest police station.

I'm nohing related to tis company. Jus knew it when I went to Perfect Livin '09 Home n Lifestyle Exhibition last week. I'm oso not sure wif the price but jus feel interest on it. Guys can click here for more information ya! Cheers!

Normally this invisible grill is to prevent children from playing superman and fly downward... its useless against any theft as i heard its quite fragile.. can be broken easily..

From the photos, it's just a few stainless steel wire instead of our usual pipe, hollow section or flat bar. And I think very easy to cut. I guess the cable is some sort of close loop system so that when somebody cut it the circuit becomes open and alarm sound? IF like that can short circuit mah... unless inside the cable got a hidden wire lah. hmmm.... interesting..... But what if the person cut the cables (since it's so easy to cut), break in, take all the things and whack you blue black before the police come (or should I say IF they come). If it's link to security company then it means you need to pay maintenance fee. And what if they close shop after a year or two? Nah... IMHO, not going for it.

As I heard from them, there are really a hidden wire inside the cable n the alarm system is optional. I'm no idea how easy v can cut the stainless steel wire. But I think tat is not so easy lah. If not tat is no more call "invisible grille" but rubbish oledi. Ha...... Mayb next time got chance will ask more details from them ya! Cheers!
